How many sessions will I need to "fix" my dog? There's no one-size-fits-all answer to this question... behavior modification can be a gradual process and may require ongoing management and reinforcement. Each dog is unique and the time and number of sessions needed for change will vary depending on several factors: Severity and complexity of the behavior: More severe or deeply ingrained behaviors may take longer to address. Duration of the behavior: Habits that have been present for a long time often require more work to change. Consistency and commitment to the training plan: Your dedication to following through with training exercises between sessions is crucial for success. Environmental factors: The dog's living situation, daily routines, and potential triggers in their environment can impact progress. Learning history and temperament of your dog: Some dogs may learn more quickly than others, and individual personalities can affect the training process. While I can't guarantee a specific number of sessions, I'm happy to help you choose the package that best fits your needs. If you find you need additional support, there is the option to add à la carte sessions to any package: Single session Pack of 3 sessions Pack of 5 sessions Rest assured that if you stick to the training plan and remain consistent, you will see progress toward your goals. As an experienced trainer, I will work with you to create a personalized plan and adjust it as needed throughout the process.

Can I just schedule a few sessions instead of paying for the whole program?Sure, you can absolutely just take a few private lessons. However; all new clients will need to start with an Initial Consultation before starting behavior training sessions.
-
What vaccinations do you require? For private sessions in your home, dogs over 4 months of age will need to be current on their Rabies and DHPP vaccines. These vaccinations must be administered by a licensed veterinarian and proof of vaccination will be required before the first in person visit.

Why are your programs so pricey? Can't I just take a class at a pet store?Think of these programs as an investment into your future with your dog. Behavior training can save you a fortune down the road on repairs, vet bills, legal troubles, frustration and heart break. Pet store classes, although they can be helpful for basic obedience for some dogs, aren't the best solution for dogs suffering from fear or anxiety. And pet stores usually won't allow reactive or aggressive dogs attend their classes. I offer a higher level of expertise (I've spent years honing my craft on behavior change) to resolve your dog's behavior struggles; addressing your dog's unique needs and tailoring the training specifically for you and your dog. With my programs you get personalized attention, individualized plans, and ongoing support. You have your own personal trainer (or therapist) for your pup!
-
Do you have a board and train program? No, I currently do not offer Board and Train services. I feel the most successful progress takes place alongside the owners. You are learning just as much as your dogs are. I find Board and Train programs are usually harder on dogs that are fearful, anxious, or reactive. These special pups need to decompress and learn to adapt to their own specific fears or triggers. This is best done in an environment where they feel safe . Sticking them in a boarding facility with unfamiliar sounds, surroundings, other dogs and people won't do them any favors and may actually increase their problems. However, if you feel your dog would thrive in a Board and Train environment , I'd be happy to recommend some fabulous programs.
-
Do you guarantee results? Here's the deal: your dog isn't a robot. They are a living, breathing animal with a personality all their own. I can't just wave a magic wand and guarantee results when it comes to their behavior. Working with any animal (even the human kind) is unpredictable and filled with various twists and turns. No one can control everything (e.g. emotions, environment, health) that influences behavior What I can promise is this: I'll give you the best science based training , teach you all my tricks, and be there to support and help you every step of the way.
-
What if I need to reschedule my session?I understand that life happens! Sometimes unexpected events may arise. If you need to reschedule your dog's training session, simply contact me at least 24 hours in advance and I'll do our best to accommodate your request.
-
Can't I just let my dog "bark it out"?While it might be tempting to let a dog with separation anxiety "bark it out," I strongly suggest you avoid this tactic. Ignoring the anxiety can lead to an escalation of distress, potentially causing more severe behavioral issues and impacting the overall well-being of your dog.

What is Separation Anxiety?Separation anxiety is a complex, serious condition that goes beyond the occasional whimper or a chewed-up sock. It’s not just boredom, nor just a little mischief. Separation anxiety and isolation distress is a genuine source of fear for your dog, similar to a panic attack.
-
I can't stay home with my dog all the time due to work and other commitments.I totally understand where you're coming from. Juggling work and other responsibilities with a dog dealing with separation anxiety can be tough. While it is important to suspend alone time for your dog until they can cope with being alone; there are creative alternatives to ensure your dog feels safe. Utilizing doggy daycare, enlisting the help of a trusted friend or neighbor, or hiring a professional pet sitter for short periods can provide help avoid triggering panic. We can work together to find solutions that suit your schedule while still addressing your dog's needs effectively.
-
How long will it take for my dog to get over separation anxiety? So, here's the thing—dealing with separation anxiety is a bit like therapy for your pup. It's a gradual process, and our main focus is working under your dog's fear threshold so they always feel safe. That's going to be different for each individual dog. Realistically, it may take months to change how your furry friend feels about being on their own. Think of it as a journey, where we're building foundations, and not a quick fix to treat the symptoms. And I'll be right there with you every step of the way!
-
Why do I need to hire a pro when there's tons of tips online to address my dog's separation anxiety? While you might stumble upon some general tips online, the reliability of that info can be a bit iffy. It might even do more harm than good by not really addressing the root of your dog's fear and panic when left alone. To really overcome Separation Anxiety successfully, it's key to reach out to a pro with a solid background in separation-related behaviors and a foundation in behavior science.
-
Is Separation Anxiety common, or is my dog crazy?Separation anxiety is actually quite common. Many dogs experience distress, panic, and anxiety when left alone or are separated from their person. Some estimates suggest that about 20-40% of dogs struggle with separation related issues. The actual number might be even higher as many cases may go unreported or undiagnosed.
-
Do your methods work for all dogs and breeds?Absolutely! No matter if you have a tiny teacup fur baby or a giant mastiff that out weighs you. My approach is safe, gentle and effective for dogs of all ages: puppies to seniors These methods work as equally for shelter and rescue dogs as they do with those who've been living the home life forever.
-
Won't my dog just eventually outgrow or learn to deal with the anxiety?Separation anxiety is not just a phase that dogs naturally outgrow. In fact, without proper intervention, the anxiety can intensify over time. Ignoring it may contribute to a negative cycle, reinforcing fear and panic. Addressing separation anxiety through a structured training program is essential to help your dog build confidence, learn coping mechanisms, and overcome their anxiety for a happier and healthier life.
-
What if I'm not very technology-savvy?No worries! My virtual separation anxiety program is designed to be user-friendly! All you need is a computer with a webcam, a tablet or smartphone, a watch or timer, and a good WiFi signal.

Why is the Separation training only done virtually? Shouldn't you come to my house to train my dog?Great question! The virtual training approach is designed to provide a safe environment and realistic scenarios for your dog to practice solo time without triggering panic or the added stress of having a stranger in the house. And, think about it, if I'm physically there, it's not really practicing "home alone" time, right? Virtual training also comes with some nifty perks. You don't need to live in my service area – it's training from the comfort of your home, no matter where that may be. The flexibility is a bonus; we can work around your schedule. We're training new skills for real-life scenarios right in your home-where your dog is struggling.
